The Romance of Utrecht: A Wedding Photoshoot with a "Bakfiets" through the City

Utrecht is a small city full of charm and romance, making it the perfect place for a wedding photoshoot. For this shoot, I captured a couple’s civil ceremony at the municipality, followed by a leisurely two-hour stroll through the city’s historic streets.

The ceremony took place in a classic municipal building, which provided an elegant setting for the official part of the day. Afterward, we ventured out into the city, using the beautiful canals and old architecture as a backdrop for our photos.

One fun element we incorporated was a rented bakfiets - a traditional Dutch cargo bike. This playful touch added a sense of lightheartedness to the session, with the couple posing in and around the bike, creating some wonderfully joyful images.

After the session, the couple went off to enjoy dinner with their family, but not before we captured many beautiful, heartfelt moments that they will treasure for years to come.

Choosing a small wedding, often called an elopement or destination wedding, offers a unique and personal experience. With fewer people involved, couples can focus on each other, fully enjoying the special day without distractions.
